For centuries men and women, young and old, have been affected by a disease
in which little was known except its symptoms. But in 1948, a group
of scientists and physicians came together to take action against this
condition called arthritis. Perhaps heartened by breakthroughs in medicine,
this community of scientists envisioned a day when a cure for arthritis
would be discovered and the millions of people with arthritis would
no longer suffer. Their actions resulted in the formation of theArthritis
Foundation.
The
American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeonsprovides education and
practice management services for orthopaedic surgeons and allied health
professionals. The Academy also serves as an advocate for improved patient
care and informs the public about the science of orthopaedics. Founded
at Northwestern University as a not-for-profit organization in 1933,
the Academy has grown from a small organization serving less than 500
members to the world's largest medical association of musculoskeletal
specialists. The Academy now serves about 20,000 members internationally.

The Lupus Foundation of America (LFA) is the nation's leading non-profit voluntary health organization dedicated to finding the causes and cure for lupus. Our mission is to improve the diagnosis and treatment of lupus, support individuals and families affected by the disease, increase awareness of lupus among health professionals and the public, and find the causes and cure. The
National Databank for Rheumatic Diseases (NDB) is a research data
bank for the study of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), osteoarthritis (OA)
and fibromyalgia (FS). The NDB project collects data on rheumatic disorders
directly from persons who have these illnesses. The goals of the project
are to advance knowledge about the causes, outcomes, costs, treatments
and results of treatments. A no less important goal of the NDB project
is to to stimulate data collection and study by health professionals,
and to make available NDB data for medical research. We invite you to
help this research by joining the project.

Since 1987, the SAHBA/Lute Olson Celebrity Auction, Luncheon & Golf Tournament
has raised more than $1.5 million to benefit the Arizona Arthritis Center at the
University of Arizona College of Medicine.
SAHBA volunteers organize this fun-filled, three-day event that is open to the public.
The community is invited to participate, to support the research efforts of the Arizona
Arthritis Center.
The Scleroderma Foundation
is the national organization for people with scleroderma and their families and friends.
It was formed January 1, 1998, by a merger between the West Coast-based United Scleroderma
Foundation and the East Coast-based Scleroderma Federation.
TASL is a non-profit
organization serving the Tucson arthritic community. Some of our services include
self-help devices, arts & crafts programs, and sholarship awards. TASL always
welcomes new members. We encourage you to let us know if you are interested in
joining us as we develop programming and opportunities to assist individuals with arthritis.
