Mission

The mission of the Arizona Arthritis Center (AAC) is to create a worldarthritis center logo
free of arthritis and autoimmune disease. The Center provides basic and clinical research linked with excellent clinical care and education to achieve this goal.

Why is the Arizona Arthritis Center so committed to its mission? Arthritis is a critical factor in our happiness as we age and is often associated with pain and disablement. There are more than 100 forms of arthritis. While arthritis is a growing epidemic among an aging population, the disease is not limited to adults. Thousands of children in the U.S. have arthritis and other autoimmune diseases.

Recent projections by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention predict that more than 100 million people will be affected by arthritis by 2020. Lost productivity from arthritis and millions of dollars in health care costs have an incredible impact. Although arthritis does not directly kill, the disease is the cause of health problems that do kill, such as heart disease and diabetes.

Center physicians, researchers and scientists are committed to finding better treatments for arthritis and autoimmune diseases and one day finding a cure.
