Tucson Lecture Series 

The Living Healthy With Arthritis community outreach and public education program focuses on healthy lifestyle education and patient empowerment while living with arthritis. The lecture series features a wide range of topics utilizing both community speakers and medical and health professionals from the University of Arizona.

 

Monthly lectures are free and open to the public.  Lectures are held the first Wednesday of each month from 6:00 – 7:15 p.m., in the DuVal Auditorium (room 2600) at the University of Arizona Medical Center – University Campus, 1501 N. Campbell Ave., unless otherwise noted.

'Oh My Aching Joints' 

Exploring the Latest Treatments for Joint Pain

About the Lecture:
Dr. Lisse will discuss the latest pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches to reduce joint pain and inflammation.  He will present the keys to longevity and improved function while dealing with stresses on joint cartilage.  He will update the audience on the risks and benefits of the newest therapies along with enlightening participants on the latest research into pain management treatments with the goal of
increased comfort and mobility.

About Dr. Lisse:
Dr. Lisse is a practicing rheumatologist in the University of Arizona Health Network and is a professor of medicine in the University of Arizona College of Medicine. He was chief of the division of rheumatology at the UA from 2004 - 2013.  Upon his arrival to the UA in 2000, he was named the Ethel McChesney Bilby Endowed Chair for Osteoporosis and became the medical director of the osteoporosis program at the University of Arizona Arthritis Center. Prior to his work at the University of Arizona, Dr. Lisse served at the University of Texas for 17 years as the chief of the Division of Rheumatology.

Dr. Lisse received his medical degree with honors at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, in 1976. He completed his internal medicine residency at the United States Public Health Services Hospital and his rheumatology fellowship at the University of California- San Diego. Dr. Lisse has published numerous articles on therapies for rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and on the epidemiology of rheumatic diseases.

Tickets for the Event:
Prior registration is required, however it is not necessary to bring a printed ticket to the lecture.

Parking Information:
Parking is available in the University of Arizona Medical Center – University Campus visitor/patient parking garage. The fee is $1.50 per hour, cash only.
