Mihra S. Taljanovic, MD, PhD, FACR

Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery

Dr. Taljanovic is a Professor of Medical Imaging and Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Arizona. She also serves as Director of Musculoskeletal Imaging Research and Development, is the Course Director for UA Medical Student Radiology Elective and is Director of the Musculoskeletal Imaging Fellowship Program.  

She earned a master's degree in Medical Investigations at the University of Sarajevo Republic of BiH and a PhD and Medical Doctoroate from the same institution where she also completed her internship and residency.  She compeletd a second residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Michigan where she also performed a fellowship in Musculoskeletal Radiology.

Dr. Taljanovic is an academically active musculoskeletal radiologist in the Department of Medical Imaging at the University of Arizona. She has  an expertise in all imaging modalities of the musculoskeletal system including radiography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, musculoskeletal ultrasound and bone densitometry and in imaging guided procedures. She serves on several hospital, national and international committees and is an active member of multiple professional organizations in the country and in the world in addition to serving as a member of the University of Arizona Arthritis Center's Scientific Advisory Council. She recently participated in the International Skeletal Society Outreach Program, delivering several lectures and hands-on teaching in Uganda and Zambia. She has 55 peer reviewed publications, 40 presentations in national and international meetings, 26 education or scientific posters, and two book chapters. Additionally, she has participated in eight ultrasound workshops and has presented 151 invited lectures. She has also trained 20 musculoskeletal fellows. Dr. Taljanovic
